Georgia Pond & Waterfall is a pond builder and hardscaper serving homeowners and commercial property owners in Cumming, GA and throughout North Atlanta. We design and build the kind of backyard features people slow down to look at: ponds, waterfalls, natural swimming ponds, and the stonework that ties it all together. He walks the yard with you: the slope, the drainage, the trees, where the water will come from and where it will go.
You approve the design and price
You get a clear price for the work before anything starts. Nothing is dug until you've said yes.
We build it, then come back to check
The stone is set to look natural, the site is cleaned up, and Nico follows up afterwards to make sure everything is running properly.
Waterfalls that keep the water moving
A waterfall isn't only there to look at. Moving water is what keeps a pond healthy: UGA horticulturist Tony Johnson points out that a water garden doesn't breed more mosquitoes, because the water is moving and the fish are eating the larvae. We build every waterfall and stream with that job in mind, sizing the pump and the drop so the water circulates, then setting the stone so the liner, foam and cement disappear and what you see is rock and water.
Pond rebuilds that fix the real problem
Most ponds that need help were built too shallow, in the wrong spot, or on a liner that has given out. UGA's water garden guidance is simple: dig at least 24 inches deep, leave a one-foot shelf, and keep the site raised so runoff doesn't wash into the pond. When we rebuild an older pond, we start there, at the depth, the liner and the drainage, so the rebuild holds its water and its clarity instead of needing the same repair in a few years.

Atlanta averages close to 50 inches of rain a year, and in 2020 it got almost 67, the sixth-wettest year on record, according to the National Weather Service. On sloped North Atlanta lots, all of that water is looking for somewhere to go. Our patios, retaining walls, walkways and steps are built on a proper base with the drainage thought through, so the ground around your pond stays where it was put, and a yard that used to flood every storm can finally handle it.

We're based at 8520 Glen Lake Dr in Cumming, GA, and build across North Atlanta: Cumming, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Marietta and Atlanta.
What are your hours?
Monday to Friday 9 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday 9 AM to 5 PM. We're closed on Sunday. Call (925) 695-4629 or send a request any time and Nico will call you back.
What do you build?
Custom ponds and waterfalls, natural swimming ponds and beach pools, plus the hardscapes around them: patios, retaining walls, walkways and steps, and fire pits. We also clean ponds and rebuild ponds and waterfalls that have stopped working.
Can you fix a pond or waterfall that leaks?
Yes, and it's a large part of what we do. A leak is usually a tired liner or a structure that has shifted, so we rebuild at the cause, often with a fresh liner, rather than patching what you can see. One customer's 20-year-old waterfall was rebuilt this way and stopped losing water.
How much does a pond or waterfall cost?
It depends on the size, the stone, the pumps and filtration, and how the site drains, so we don't quote a number blind. Nico looks at the site with you and gives you a clear price before any work starts.
Will a pond bring mosquitoes into my yard?
Not if it's built right. UGA horticulturist Tony Johnson calls that a misconception: in a water garden the water is moving and the fish are eating the larvae. Waterfalls and streams keep the water circulating, and a few fish do the rest.
Can you build near a creek or stream on my property?
Often, but carefully. Georgia's Erosion and Sedimentation Act protects a 25-foot buffer along the banks of state waters, and disturbing ground inside it generally needs a variance from Georgia EPD. If your project is close to a stream, we plan the work around that from the start.
